Readings taken from a VapoChill with a running compressor, fan and power supply. Noise measurements have been made in an acoustic lab approved by DS/ISO 3743, under following conditions: Reverberation time 1 sec. Initial noise level 13 db (A) Temperature 26C. Relative air humidity 52%. Placed 1 meter from microphone.

Adding an extra fan for improving the air flow would increase the noise level, and the above measured noise-level would no longer have its effect.



Requirements are based on requirements in relation to CE-marking. The environment is Residential, commercial and light industry and therefore the test specification is based on EN50082-1 and EN50081-1. Tests are performed at 230 VAC and 115 VAC.

The VapoChill observe the requirements in Generic standards EN 50081-1 and EN50082-1. Because the basic standard in EN50081-1 is EN55022 the VapoChill also observe EN55022 class B. The RF field emission test is carried out in a TEM cell.

Cooling performance

Readings taken from a VapoChill bare bone mounted with motherboard, memory graphics adapter, hard drive and P3 800MHz CPU running at 1136MHz. Measurements are done on the middle of the evaporator wall.

Temperature readings may vary due to different heat dissipation from different processors. Also core speed and core voltage has influence on the temperature readings.


Power Supply Requirements

  • Peak current @ 10 (50 ms): 14 A +/- 1 A

In order for the cooling system to work properly, the power supply used should meet the above minimum requirements. The peak current is only required during the compressors start-up procedure. In order for the compressor to work continuously, the PSU must under no circumstances go below 9.6 V - even for only a very short time

Readings taken from a VapoChill bare bone with a running 12 VDC compressor driven by the computers power supply. Tests are performed at 230 VAC and 115 VAC. All VapoChill cooling systems are based on a 12VDC compressor, which means that it will work on both 230 VAC and 115 VAC wall outlets.

With increasing heat dissipation from the CPUs, the current consumption of the compressor would eventually get bigger. Therefore the current specified above is not a constant value. Any upgrades having a different compressor like the PL20F (220 V unit) cannot be expected to perform in the same manner.
